Design Rooted in Hospitality

Recognized as the Archilovers Project of the Year 2024, this modern residential architecture project embodies a natural synthesis of geometric exterior lines and warm, family-centric interior living. The house was designed for a lively family with four children, who truly embraces an open-door policy, ensuring the space is highly optimized for both frequent entertaining and relaxed daily comfort. From the street, the structure presents a slightly angular geometry dictated by the unique lines of the plot, clad entirely in natural travertine stone. Visitors are welcomed through a distinctly high entrance that immediately frames a lush, green patio just as one enters. This architectural choice sets a serene, inviting tone before guests even cross the threshold, establishing a strong connection between the outdoor environment and the interior of the home.

Dynamic Volumes and Open-Plan Living

When approaching the layout, the spatial planning thoughtfully divides the home to balance communal gatherings with the need for private retreats. The ground floor hosts the primary public areas—ideal for hosting friends and extended family—alongside a secluded master suite for the parents. Meanwhile, the upper level is fully dedicated to the children’s bedrooms and a shared home theater. The core of the house features a double-height living room that creates an expansive sense of volume and natural light. This tall central space is anchored by a custom two-story bookshelf and an open staircase that connects the levels seamlessly. In deliberate contrast to the lofty living area, the adjacent kitchen and dining spaces were planned with standard ceiling heights. This shift in scale creates a more intimate, human-centric atmosphere for family meals and casual daily conversations.

A Palette of Industrial Warmth

The interior design narrative relies on a cohesive palette of monochromatic grays, which is continuously enriched by warm touches of natural wood and subtle color accents. A defining element of the main living space is the two-story exposed concrete wall. This feature provides a raw, industrial backdrop to the floating wooden light fixtures, balancing the modern furnishings. The transparent iron and wood bookshelf serves dual purposes: it acts as a functional storage and display unit, while also serving as a visually permeable partition and stairway railing. This ensures open sight lines through the ground floor, while adding distinct character to the space.

Dedicated Spaces for Play and Entertainment

The upper level functions as an engaging environment tailored specifically to the family's dynamic lifestyle and love for media. The home theater, featuring a custom bar area, is thoughtfully designed with an internal window that looks directly down over the double-height living room below. This visual link ensures that the separate floors remain socially connected, even when different activities are taking place. Furthermore, the theater opens onto a private sun balcony that offers clear views of the outdoor pool and the ground-floor lounge area. The children's rooms are actively designed with playful elements, including a custom indoor climbing wall, ensuring that the architecture remains highly functional, engaging, and directly responsive to the everyday needs of a busy, growing family.
