Mastering Topography
Perched on a picturesque hillside, this modern residential project is a testament to context-driven design. Our primary goal was to harmonize the architecture with the challenging natural topography while maximizing the sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Large, floor-to-ceiling glass facades dissolve the boundaries between the interior and the horizon, allowing natural light to flood the living spaces. To ensure optimal climatic comfort throughout the year, we integrated a meticulously designed shading pergola. This architectural feature not only protects the home from the intense summer sun but also frames the breathtaking vistas, creating a serene environment that celebrates the beauty of its geographic location.
An Efficient Inverted Program
Working with a restricted plot size required an innovative approach to spatial planning. To overcome the challenges of a limited footprint without compromising on luxury or functionality, we decided to implement an efficient, inverted program. By placing the public areas—the living room, kitchen, and dining space—on the upper floor, we ensured that the active heart of the home enjoys the best possible vantage points and abundant natural light. Conversely, the private quarters, including the family bedrooms, are nested on the lower level. This deliberate separation maximizes the use of available land and provides a tranquil, grounded sanctuary for rest, perfectly balancing vibrant social spaces with peaceful, private retreats.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living: Diverse Exterior Spaces
A hallmark of this project is the indoor-outdoor connection, offering a diverse array of exterior experiences tailored to both levels of the home. The journey begins with a beautifully landscaped, inviting entrance. From the upper-level dining area, the interior flows effortlessly into a paved entertaining courtyard, complete with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen—perfect for dining and hosting guests. From the opposite side of the space, the living room and kitchen flow naturally into a spacious roof terrace, which extends toward the horizon. This terrace is ingeniously created by the architectural shifting of the two floors relative to one another; as a result, the roof of the lower level acts as a vast, open-air balcony for the upper floor, providing an expansive outdoor lounge to take in the views. Downstairs, the outdoor narrative shifts to family life, opening up to a secure, lush play yard featuring a green lawn where children can safely explore and play, and a quiet patio adjacent to the home office.

A Custom Two-Level Frame Library
At the core of the home's interior design is a spectacular, custom-made element that bridges form and function: a bespoke, two-sided, two-level frame library. Designed exclusively for this residence, this intricate metal and wood structure vertically accompanies the main staircase, visually tying the upper and lower floors together. Far beyond a simple storage unit, this multifunctional masterpiece serves as a dynamic room divider, a TV mount, and the housing for a contemporary fireplace. It provides ample space for a curated book collection and decorative displays, while cleverly functioning as a safety railing for the stairs as well. This unique architectural detail embodies the project's core ethos: smart, elegant, and seamlessly integrated design.
